Scalenut raises $3.1 million for an automated content creation platform

How do companies build their brands as they seek to evolve? The choice is between paying for exposure or developing their own content to attract and engage potential customers. The second option is the preferred option for many, especially as the cost of paid media continues to rise, but content development can be time consuming and requires specialized skills. Walk in shell nutannouncing a $3.1 million funding round today, who thinks they have the answer.

Scalenut is an AI-powered platform that aims to automate large parts of the content creation process for businesses that continue to grow this way. “We want to help businesses use content to scale sustainably,” says Mayank Jain, who co-founded the company in 2021, along with Gaurav Goyal and Saurabh Wadhawan, launching its first products earlier this year.

Scalenut’s platform allows content creators to create a structure for a piece of content on a given topic, based on the keywords they want to use, the existence of content on the same topic posted by d others and its performance, and to take advantage of publicly available content. information on the subject. Once this structure is in place, Scalenut’s AI technology will develop a rough draft of the content, which the creator can edit and refine before publishing.

The idea is to automate much of the heavy lifting of content creation. The platform does the research the creator would normally spend a lot of time on, identifies the type of content that performs well in a given area, and generates a first draft of the final work.

“In effect, we’re giving creators more time to spend on the creative parts of content generation,” says Jain. “We don’t take that away from them; we try to free up the time they would otherwise have to spend on the more mundane parts of the job, from research to creating keyword lists.

User feedback suggests they’re saving about a third of the time they previously spent on each project, Jain says. This means they can create content faster – and create more content – giving businesses a way to quickly grow a larger audience. “It’s a much more effective way to use content as a way to scale your business and grow your customer base,” says Jain.

So far, Scalenut has primarily aimed its platform at freelance content creators and writers employed by agencies that specialize in content creation. Over time, however, he expects his target customer base to expand to include medium to large businesses where content creation is done in-house.

The platform is particularly well suited to creating relatively stereotypical content – listings, product guides, product comparisons and reviews – but this is the type of content that brands need to produce in high volumes. Reducing the cost and time required for such content creation is therefore vital.

A one-stop-shop for content creation is invaluable in this regard, says Jain. “SEO and content marketing teams juggle multiple tools for solid SEO research, content creation, optimization, and performance measurement,” he points out. “Not only is this inefficient, but it also leads to siled team efforts based on misinformation and incomplete strategy – which is why most companies struggle to successfully scale content marketing. “

The challenge is all the more daunting given the number of companies publishing competing content, says Scalenut. The pandemic has seen businesses around the world stepping up their digital activities – whether offline or online before the crisis – creating a crowded market in which everyone is struggling to be heard.

Scalenut’s customer base is growing rapidly. The product operates on a software-as-a-service basis, with three pricing tiers that users pay from $29 to $149 per month, depending on how much functionality they need and how much content they want to create. . Since launching its first paid product in January, revenue has grown at a rate of 50% month-over-month, says Jain.

Today’s fundraiser is expected to help the company accelerate, with the funds earmarked for building Scalenut’s technology stack, as well as product development. The platform currently only works in English, but other languages are on the agenda.

The funding round is led by a funding round led by Saama Capital and Amit Singhal, a former Google senior vice president who led Google search. It builds on a $400,000 seed round led by Titan Capital, First Principles VC, AngelList, Abhishek Goyal and a number of other top angel investors.

“With the increase in content consumption around the world, content is a key driver of business growth,” said Ash Lilani, Managing Partner at Saama Capital. “A common problem that businesses face in boosting their organic marketing is scaling content in a meaningful way – there is no easy way to scale content and Scalenut solves precisely that with its platform. form of robust AI.”
