It applies AI to 11,000 hours of content in its archives, including material produced in the 1960s and 1970s, using the VSNExplorer MAM cloud service with an AI engine from Etiqmedia.

After four months of testing, the one-year project started in October, with files from the archive ingested into VSNExplorer MAM. The system creates a previous asset with the media file and an XML file containing information about the content provided by the network. Then the AI ​​engine begins to generate metadata. All the extracted information is then displayed in a single, centralized interface.

For audio, the technology can retrieve a full text transcript in minutes, including recognition of people, places, events, products, organizations, and dates that are mentioned, creating an automated catalog of content and keywords. For video, it has facial recognition and identifies the scene, as well as the objects, tags and signs that appear.

RTVE is also using VSNExplorer MAM for a new Innovation Hub project that explores the use of cloud-based tools to create news content in small news production centers.
