Akilapa Precious: Content Creation – A Major Business Problem
Many Nigerian businesses have a major problem: they have virtually no content online. This is probably the case with your business too. You might be surprised how much this hinders the success of your business.
Take a look at the website of most companies and brands in the country, even some of the market leaders and right from the start you can already notice that there is almost nothing on it. Yes, there is the home page, the about page, the service page(s), and the contact page. There may also be an occasional press page, but that’s mostly it. All else you’ll find is probably one of those pages that no one ever reads.
Now, that is not to say that all Nigerian companies are guilty of this. Some companies do a good job of delivering quality content, consistently. Unfortunately, companies like these are not that common.
How Does Zero Content Affect Businesses?
The answer here is simple: if you don’t post content, your business/brand is not seen. If your business/brand is not seen, you are not making sales. This is exactly why your company’s lack of content is a problem. No content means no sales.
Now, you could argue that your business is actually making sales, and maybe it is. But the fact remains that whatever your business does now with lousy online content is absolutely nothing compared to what you could do with quality content.
Here is a quick example for you. Imagine two brands. One you see everywhere – in ads, in the news, on blogs and another you know nothing about – you can’t even find it online. What would you choose to spend your money on?
The answer is pretty obvious, right? It’s the same reason why you’d rather spend money on more expensive brands of phones than buy much cheaper unknown brands. This is why Bigi products have taken the market by storm. Content drives sales. It always has been.
What’s in it for your business?
There’s an advantage to the fact that most businesses have virtually no content online: your business has virtually no competition. Since most companies (including your competitors) are silent online, you’re more likely to be heard. Since there is very little local content taking up your industry’s web space, chances are the content you post will be seen and by the right people. And the more you are seen, the more money you are likely to earn.
What should you do?
Start creating content. The blog on your website is a good way to start. Create useful content – useless content is almost as bad as no content at all. Maybe even worse. Use this content to engage your customers. Use it to answer their questions and to convey vital information. To clear things up about the rumours. Nothing. Just make sure it’s useful and of good quality.
Social media is another great way to get content to your customers. Keep your brand/company in their mind, and whenever they wonder which brand to choose, yours would always come to mind.
If you don’t know how to create quality content, you can contact a professional content writer. It will save your time and bring you profit. A win-win, honestly.
