Ahmed bin Mohammed issues rulings establishing advisory councils on publishing and content creation to further develop Dubai’s media sector

In line with the vision and guidance of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai, to enhance Dubai’s status as a regional hub for media and creativity, His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Media Council, issued Decisions No. (4) and No. (5) of 2022, establishing the Publishing Advisory Council and the Council Content creation advisory.

The advisory boards will review and develop strategies for Dubai media institutions, overseeing the publishing industry and developing the content creation policy of Dubai Media Incorporated (DMI). The councils’ objectives will include improving the competitiveness of Dubai’s media sector and preparing an enabling environment to attract and nurture talented local youth.

This decision, which is part of the Dubai Media Council’s overall strategy to develop the various media segments in Dubai, including broadcast, print and digital media, aims to attract talent and develop media establishments in the emirate to achieve Dubai’s strategic objectives in line with the national agenda.

The councils will develop plans to retain local talent and establish development and training programs for talented professionals from media institutions and ensure that DMI policies continue to align with Dubai’s strategic priorities in accordance with the national interest.

H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Media Council, said: “The modernization of the media sector is one of the main priorities of the Council, in line with the realization of the vision of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and the implementation of its directives. develop plans and strategies to advance the media sector and work to attract talent to achieve a quantum leap in the field.

“We are working closely with relevant entities to develop plans that meet technical equipment and human capital requirements. I personally monitor the results and recommendations of the working groups. I am confident that their efforts will result in a comprehensive plan that will contribute to the development of the media sector, the enhancement of Dubai’s status and the realization of its leadership vision,” noted His Highness.

Her Excellency Mona Al Marri, Vice President and CEO of the Dubai Media Council, said: “The launch of the Media Advisory Councils is a step towards identifying the needs and understanding the challenges of Dubai’s media establishments. The members of these councils have a wealth of experience and knowledge of different media sectors, including broadcast, print and digital media.

“We have a comprehensive strategy to develop and modernize the media sector to keep pace with Dubai’s leading status in the field. The strategy aims to support the sector with all the necessary technical equipment and human capital, as well as to give the opportunity to local talents to contribute to the development of this vital sector,” noted Al Marri.

“The Council will now focus on enhancing the competitiveness of Dubai’s media sector to achieve the highest level of distinction and leadership through the use of industry best practices to meet Dubai’s future aspirations and help carry his message to the world,” Badri noted.

Nehal Badri, Secretary General of the Dubai Media Council, highlighted the rapid pace of work within the Council, including the formation of working groups and committees for the development of media institutions. She also underlined the essential role that these advisory councils will play in accelerating the process and achieving the development objectives of the sector.

Publishing Advisory Council
Decision No. (4) of 2022 issued by His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed established the Publishing Advisory Board to oversee the publishing sector at Dubai Media Incorporated (DMI), develop its policies to align with national interest, develop plans to retain local talent and set up development and training programs for its talented professionals.

The Publishing Advisory Council is also responsible for developing plans to serve the strategies approved by the Dubai Media Council and as an advisory body to come up with plans in line with Dubai’s goals and the national agenda. The Publishing Advisory Board will also come up with initiatives to boost emiratization and attract and retain industry talent.

Salem Butti Belyouha, Director of Media Services at the Government of Dubai Media Office (GDMO), will serve as Chairman of the Publishing Advisory Board, while Majid Al Suwaidi, Senior Vice President of Dubai Media City and Dubai Studio City, will be its Vice President. Board members of the Publishing Advisory Council include Noora Al Abbar, Director, International Media, GDMO; Ali bin Thalith, Secretary General of the Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum International Photography Prize; Reem Al Marri, Director of Emirates News at DMI News Centre; Khalifa Al Room, Secretary General of the Dubai Police Youth Leadership Council and Head of Marketing and Media Committee for Dubai Police Smart Police Stations; Ahlam Bolooki, director of the Emirates Literature Festival; Abdulla Al Nuaimi, Head of Marketing and Communications, Dubai Future Foundation; and Dubai Abulhoul, CEO of Fikr Institute.

Content Creation Advisory Council
Decision No. (5) of 2022 issued by His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed established the Content Creation Advisory Council to develop content creation policy at DMI and ensure that it is in line with the interest national.

The Content Creation Advisory Board is responsible for suggesting recommendations for content creation and reviewing content and program policy to ensure it aligns with Dubai’s strategic objectives and the national agenda.

Ahmed Al Mansouri, adviser to the Dubai Media Council, will serve as chairman of the Content Creation Advisory Council, while Mahmoud Al Rasheed, managing director of Arab Media Group, will serve as vice-chairman. Board members of the Content Creation Advisory Council include Abdulaziz Al Jaziri, Deputy Managing Director and COO of Dubai Future Foundation; Dr. Maitha Buhumaid, Director of the Dubai Press Club; Nehla Al Fahd, professional director and executive producer; Mohammed Saeed Harib, professional animator and director; Faisal AlHawi, Head of Accelerators at the Dubai Future Foundation; Adnan Al Obathani, Emirati entrepreneur and investor in digital media and content; and Khadija Al Marzouqi, editor-in-chief of the Dubai Post.
